The Hottest Trucks at SEMA Are Ford F-Series Pickups – Hurlock, MD

Hurlock, MD – Preston Ford, part of the Preston Automotive Group, is excited to bring some great news from the Ford Motor Company about the popular Ford Truck line. Once again, Ford F-Series pickups are officially the “Hottest Truck” at the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas. The SEMA Award recognizes the most popular vehicles the organization’s members feature in their displays during the weeklong trade show.

Before this year’s show opened, SEMA officials walked the floor of the giant aftermarket expo and counted the number of trucks exhibited in booths. More Ford F-Series pickups are on display than any other truck — testament to the popularity and appeal of Ford F-Series trucks with the aftermarket. “We’re honored that more SEMA members use F-Series pickups than any other trucks as their featured platform to showcase their latest ideas and products at this important show,” said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. Aftermarket exhibitors aren’t the only ones featuring Ford trucks in their booth. Ford is also featuring four F-Series trucks, showing off the extreme versatility of F-150 and Super Duty pickups.

2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty by Superlift Suspensions
Matchbox(R) has teamed up with Superlift Suspensions to transform a Super Duty into the Matchbox Superlift Brush Truck. Superlift stays true to its off-road roots by using a 10-inch lift system on 41-inch Interco IROK tires. Shown in a PPG Vibrance “Oh, So Orange” basecoat with a contrasting satin black powder-coated accent, the two-tone paint job is sure to grab attention. It proves it’s up to the job of fighting fires with code-three emergency lights and sirens, along with a firefighting utility bed and equipment. SEMA visitors can receive a miniature die-cast version of the truck by visiting the Ford show stand.

2011 Ford F-150 EcoBoost by Skyjacker Suspensions
The “Project No Compromise” is geared toward drivers who want to go green without sacrificing performance. A Skyjacker Suspensions four-inch lift and monotube shocks help boost chassis performance, while a MagnaFlow cat-back dual exhaust system upgrades the powertrain. A Steelcraft stainless steel grille guard, Rigid Industries e-series 30-inch LED light bar and Bushwacker two-inch pocket-style fender flares distinguish this truck.

2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty by Hulst Customs
The “Black Mamba” Super Duty shows off the ultimate in luxury and style with Hulst Customs-designed hood and grille with stainless steel mesh insert, Hulst Customs side rockers and lower front fascia with LED lighting by Radiantz. It also features suicide rear doors with Scissor Doors billet hinge kit. Planet Color custom black paint along with 3M Di-Noc(TM) stainless graphics differentiates the exterior. The interior features Katzkin leather and Hulst Customs aluminum trim accents.

Ford F-Series popularity continues with sales and automotive journalists
Ford F-Series trucks aren’t popular with just the aftermarket. Strong consumer demand for new F-Series trucks continues to drive sales of the best-selling vehicle in the country. Ford F-Series sales totaled 52,511 vehicles, up 7 percent, in October. It is the second month in a row F-Series has topped 50,000 sales. Year-to-date sales of 468,899 have F-Series on pace to be not only the best-selling truck in America for the 35th consecutive year, but the best-selling vehicle — car, truck or SUV in America for the 30th consecutive year. In October, the Texas Auto Writers Association also voted Ford F-150 “Truck of Texas” and Ford won “Truck Line of Texas” for the 12th straight year.

Ford Wins Award for New Safety Innovation -Delaware City, DE

Delaware City, DE – Denton Ford, part of the Preston Automotive Group, reports that Ford Motor Company has earned a Popular Mechanics Award for their recent seat belt innovation. Ford’s innovative, industry-first rear inflatable seat belts have been named a Breakthrough Product Award winner by Popular Mechanics, part of the magazine’s seventh annual Breakthrough Awards.

Lead developer Srini Sundararajan will accept the prestigious honor at a ceremony tonight in New York City. The development of the technology was a team effort, Sundararajan says, and he’s proud that effort is being recognized.

“Ford’s goal is to develop innovative safety technologies that give our customers more peace of mind, so it is a great honor to receive the Breakthrough Technology Award,” says Sundararajan, safety technical leader for Ford Research and Innovation. “I thank Popular Mechanics for recognizing the contributions of a number of dedicated engineers from Ford.”

The rear inflatable seat belts are designed to provide additional protection for rear seat occupants. They combine the attributes of traditional seat belts and airbags to help provide an added level of crash safety protection for rear seat occupants. The advanced restraint system is designed to help reduce head, neck and chest injuries for rear seat passengers, often children and older passengers who can be more vulnerable to such injuries. Ford introduced the inflatable rear seat belts in the 2011 Explorer, bolstering the Explorer’s already extensive suite of safety innovations. The vehicle already has seen strong demand from customers for its safety and driver-assist technologies.

Early data showed approximately 40 percent of Explorer buyers are parents who are ordering the rear inflatable belts.

The rear inflatable seat belt technology will be introduced in more vehicles globally.

Maryland Delaware Ford Dealer supports safety in Evolution of Airbag for rear seat passengers

After extensive testing with various configurations, Ford introduces another FIRST in the industry; The Seat Belt Airbag for rear seat passengers.  Designed to inflate at a much lower rate and force than traditional front and side compartment airbags, these seat belt airbags are safe for children and the elderly alike. As studies and tests prove, even the child who is asleep with their head resting on the seatbelt is safe from injury.

The airbags, which are sewn in the shoulder section of the rear seat belt, are designed to deploy outward and to the sides thus offering a wider point load of impact than traditional seat belts.  With a wider point load, chest and neck injuries are greatly reduced.  In fact, these seat belt airbags are specifically designed to give added support and protection from head and neck injuries resulting from a severe crash.

It is also believed that these airbags could also reduce the risk of passenger ejection during a rollover accident, as shown in a study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  Since the introduction of the seat belt, the front seat passenger has benefited from the majority of the focus on safety.  However, with these new Airbag seatbelts, the focus for passenger safety now shifts to the back seat, “where more often than not, the occupants are our children”, states Mark Thursby, Ford Lincoln Mercury Sales Manager, at Preston Ford located in Hurlock, MD.

Although this feature may not prove to be inexpensive, Ford will offer it as optional equipment on the new Ford Explorer for the two outboard rear seats.  In the meantime, other automakers and regulating government agencies will be keeping a close eye on consumer desire and purchasing trend for this valuable protection.
