Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The Focus is currently available as a coupe and as a sedan. The four-door is available in S, SE, SES and SEL trim levels, while the coupe comes as the SE and SES. All Focus models are powered by a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder that offers 140 horsepower. Cars sold in California-level emission states have a cleaner version of this engine that is PZEV-certified; it’s good for 130 hp. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, with a four-speed automatic offered as an option.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that powers the Ford Focus delivers 140 horsepower in the Focus sedan and, thanks to a new sport-tuned exhaust, 143 hp in the Focus coupe. Transmission choices include a five-speed manual and four-speed automatic.

Safety

In the 2009 Ford Focus, airbags and side-curtain airbags come standard. Safety has also been addressed with the addition of standard side and curtain airbags for those up front as well as a reinforced steel safety cage, tire Pressure Monitoring System, and Optional ABS with traction control.
